Behind the Welsh Highland Railway terminus at Carnaervon is this road tunnel which formerly carried the standard gauge branch under the town to the North Wales Coast line at Bangor, in the other direction the branch followed what is now the WHR line to Dinas before making a junction, one line heading for Afon Wen and connecting with the Cambrian Coast line, the other for the town of Llanberis
