Heading along the Worcester Canal from Bournville station, the canal and Cross City line split, at this point the original Birmingham West Suburban Railway alignment to Kings Norton continued alongside the canal, taking the path roughly just inside the current pallisade fencing line, while the current alignment take a sharp right to the rear of the industrial estate.

The Industrial Estate now sitting in the V of ex and current railway alignments is also of interest, being the site of the former Midland Railway's Bournville Shed, designated as 21B by the LMS, the shed closed completely in 1960
